American Superbike Innovation
After the initial motorcycle press launch, select journalist had mixed reviews regarding the styling the actual performance of the 2008 Buell 1125R motorcycle. Subsequently, up-and-coming but largely unknown Danny Eslick hops aboard a relatively stock 1125R and proceeds to start cleaning-up in the new AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike class. My interest in the motorcycle was certainly peaked, as only rumors and racing controversy had composed my impressions of the sizzling new Buell to date.
Ti & Carbon or Carbon & Ti Exhaust
Ducati and Harley motorcycle owners have at least one thing in common, they enjoy the distinctive sounds their v-twin engines broadcast and the superb torque they deliver. To maximize these simple pleasures, our first order of business on our 2009 Ducati Monster 1100 S project was to upgrade the exhaust system. We searched the market for a high-quality system that would provide reliable bolt-on performance and add to the bike's distinctive look.
Monster on Pacific Coast Highway
Listen in as we join the Motorcycle Radio Network while riding our 2009 Ducati Monster 1100 S project bike. Yes, we call into the radio show live using a Bluetooth headset and mobile phone. Hear for yourself the sound quality of the headset. You will also hear about some of our initial Monster riding impressions prior to making any project bike modifications. Simply click into the story and hit the listen link. The audio file will open in a separate window.
AMA Champion Instruction
Motorcycle riding skill development is an imperative investment for any rider, and so we go to track days hoping to gain good experience-but instead often end up with unqualified riders giving us inadequate advice. Figuring out what we are doing right or wrong, and discovering which techniques actually work, can be a real challenge. The obvious answer is to find a trustworthy, professional source of guidance to help move our riding skills in a positive direction.
Vintage Motorcycle, Modern Machinery.
Vintage, as in wine, is the production of one particular year's grapes into a fine wine. From their 1971 model, Moto Guzzi (maybe because of their Italian heritage) did a fine job with this California Vintage model. Don't think old or even out of date; the looks of the motorcycle are exquisite, and the only thing old and out of date on the motorcycle is this 71-year-old rider.
A Man and His Two Loves.
Steve McQueen, The Last Mile, is a wonderful compilation of cherished stories and personal photographs from the precious memories of super-model Barbara Minty, Steve’s disheartened widow. Barbara collected these precious memoirs over the very special three and half years they were together. Her personal chronicle takes you inside the last few years of the King of Cool's storied life. And behind the photos lie a true Hollywood love story that will be related to and without doubt replicated for generations to come.
The Motorcycle Legend Lives!
The Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company, the first American motorcycle company, held sovereignty from 1901 to 1953. The first reincarnation of Indian motorcycles occurred in 1999 when a group of investors purchased the trademark in bankruptcy court. Indian motorcycle production again began shortly thereafter in Gilroy, California.
The Motorcycle Eyes Have It!
Riding a street motorcycle without a full-face helmet requires some serious eye protection. Riding at a good clip introduces hazards such as bugs, dust, debris, sun and even excessive airflow that can be uncomfortable and outright dangerous. Last time we rode with non-purpose built motorcycle sunglasses, I vowed to look for a better alternative.
