Robb Report MotorCycling Achievement in Design: Sugar/Spice

For many women, including me, riding a motorcycle gives us something of an alter-ego life. Many of my friends in the local independent music scene have no idea that I have a long-time passion for motorcycling, and my motorcycle-riding friends are generally unaware of the musical side of my life.

However, SuperG (a division of Hein Gericke) is out to change that. With boutiques in New York’s Garment District and the Los Angeles Fashion District, SuperG allows me to strut my motorcycling heritage, even when arriving by automobile. SuperG’s Ready For Action jacket—part of the flashy Tattoo line—is a juxtaposition of styles, recalling Vietnam War tour jackets, as it retains a classic motorcycle racing motif. With supple leather, meticulous embroidery, detailed hardware, a multiplicity of textures, and a luxurious satin liner, Ready For Action is designed to be worn anywhere I want to make a statement.

As my right wrist tends to twist the throttle a bit more than may be considered legal, I prefer to go under-the-radar when riding. She-Moto’s Moto-Deco jacket combines understated, sophisticated style with function. The armor and removable liner are available in various configurations, so the jacket’s design can be personalized. Hand-crafted in Italy from locally sourced Palmo leather, the Moto-Deco is soft and durable, while not forgetting practical features such as venting, heavy-duty zippers and proper fit.
