In 1928 a Harley-Davidson distributor on Long Island, N.Y., asked leather clothing designer Irving Schott to create a leather jacket that would protect motorcyclists from the elements. The result was a design that, three-quarters of a century later, is an icon of motorcycling apparel. The Perfecto, once the brand of “hoods,” always the signature of cool, remains a phenomenon, a fashion statement that transcends boundaries. Designed for ease of movement and protection from weather and injury, the limited-edition 75th anniversary Perfecto 1928 ($450) continues to symbolize the independent spirit and a touch of the rebel with a romantic sense of adventure.
