Private Preview 2006: Looking Marvelous

Ennio Capasa, one of Italy’s most innovative designers since the inception of Costume National in 1981, has always looked to the world of motorcycling for inspiration in his collections. In a unique, complementary agreement with the Ducati Company, the buzz created on the streets of Milan by the launch of Capasa’s Spring/Summer 2006 C’N’C’ streetwear collection has rivaled the speed of the new SportClassic itself. A decidedly two-wheel angle fuses with strong, distinct lines that reference 60s and 70s rock icons such as Janis Joplin, Anita Pallenberg, and Mick Jagger.

Distressed rider leathers and nylons for biker jackets with contrasting stitching and zippers highlight the collection, which also includes limited edition T-shirts, bags, belts, jeans tinted with the vintage Ducati Meccanica logo, and micro-perforated high-performance sneakers in 60 different colors. Black, white, and red Ducati buttons create a rough, yet valuable feeling, as well as a historical reference to speed and to the distinctive personality of each Ducati motorcycle. David Gross, Ducati’s creative director, appropriately references Capasa’s collection as “capable of capturing the soul and the special essence of our bikes.” (Click image to enlarge)
