A relatively new
company, Icon Motosports has taken the motorcyclist apparel paradigm and turned
it upside down. Although we have placed Icon’s apparel under the "cruiser"
banner, Icon’s designs are purposefully conceived to defy classification.
Take, for example, the spectacular Daytona DMH leather jacket
($600). Tapping imagery from skulls to poker—the
aces-and-eights/spades-and-clubs motif evokes Wild Bill Hickok’s Dead Man’s
Hand. The relaxed-fit jacket receives a vintage leather treatment, and includes
removable CE-approved armor for your shoulders and elbows. Icon’s Mainframe
Solid Rubatone helmet ($220) gives riders the protection and
mysterious anonymity of a full-face helmet, and the matte black finish is the
perfect match for the jacket. (Click image to enlarge)
The Hooligan pants ($110) may appear to be
standard denim fashion jeans, but there is more than meets the eye. The
hip-panels are double layered and Aramid reinforces the knees. A distressed look
makes these pants another part of the perfectly interlocking puzzle.
Super Duty is the name given to Icon’s footwear ($90) and
gloves ($50). Unusual for a motorcycle street boot, the Super Duty
2 stops just above the ankle, balancing comfort and protection. The deerskin
gloves combine motocross technology with supporting streetable materials.
Concealed padding preserves the cruiser look.
Dunlop Motorcycle Tires will offer a series of high-quality, collector’s edition Legends posters, with the net proceeds benefiting injured riders through the Clayton Memorial Foundation. ::MORE::
