As many current
motorcycles give more than a passing nod to days gone by, it is imperative for
riders to wear motorcycling clothing that shows the same respect for our
predecessors’ appearance. Bell Helmets is an iconic American name, and its logo
tightly retains its ties to the past. The R/T open face helmet
($60) allows you to experience the wind in your face, just as
riders did before Bell invented the full-face motorcycle helmet in 1966.
With a style that recalls every bad boy from Brando to the
Ramones, Firstgear’s Honcho leather jacket (from $330) is a
premium version of the classic look, with optional armor padding, plenty of
venting and a removable thermal liner. Firstgear’s complementary Roadmaster
gloves ($40) and Dry Sport Tour Leather Overpants (from
$300) keep the bad-in-black look alive, while serving the purpose
of rider protection. (Click image to enlarge)
Red Wing Shoes is a name nearly as old as motorcycling, dating back to 1905.
Red Wing’s 980 boots utilize a timeless lace-up style and full-grain leather,
with hidden modern touches—an impervious Vibram outsole, nylon-covered removable
footbed, Goodyear welt construction and a waterproofing system. These boots look
good, both on and off your bike.
