The Spidi R-Course leather
jacket speaks "best in class". Spidi’s partnerships with Italy’s top tanneries
and fabric makers are evident in the jacket’s suppleness and subtle blend of
nylon elastic panels at key comfort points. Spidi’s tailoring, attention to
finish and esthetic trump its rivals. One puts on the jacket and feels ready for
an outing, motorcycle optional. Pockets aplenty, and meaty, tabbed zippers that
give away nothing to feel, gloves on or off, are a practical relief, swallowing
wallets and cell phones with discretion, security and efficiency. Insertion of
the H2Out liner is a matter of minutes; loops and snaps integrate seamlessly.
The liner is a featherweight marvel that exceeds expectations as a windproof and
waterproof shell.
From any angle, the Spidi R-Course jacket
excites and inspires. (Click image to enlarge) On the bike, changing weather conditions and a brief shower
confirmed that the R-Course is the jacket one will reach for on a daily basis,
zippered to Spidi’s leather pant or secured by a thoughtful loop to a favorite
Kevlar jean. Spidi’s proprietary H2Out technology provides a superior level of
wicking and evaporation; we found riding comfort to be constant. Should the
skies change from fair to unforgiving and back again, the liner, which comes
with a clever nylon pouch, can be made to disappear into a tail pack or even
slip inside the jacket with ease. The leather is blessed by Spidi’s advances in
moisture resistance, so years of enthusiastic touring should infuse it with an
endearing patina.
