For anyone who has been out of the dirt loop for the last few
years, the technical specifications of the Yamaha WR250F’s motor are truly
spectacular: five titanium valves, a 13,500 rpm redline, electronic linkage of
the Keihin carburetor and digital ignition, EPA-pleasing emissions and, of
course, electric starting.
Attributes such as those may serve to unnerve a
lapsed off-road enthusiast looking for a seam to slip back into the world of
dirt, but any trepidation is unnecessary. as Yamaha imbued the chassis with
jackrabbit-like cornering skills, superbly balanced Kayaba suspension and a
narrow mid-section. In spite of the fact that the GYTR WR250F is based on the
YZ250F motocross race bike, it is an uncommonly capable and friendly trail
machine that refuses to intimidate.

Although American companies dominate the off-road apparel business, Progrip
continues to fly the Italian flag proudly. Designed, though no longer made, in
Italy, Progrip apparel represents a distinctive approach to riding gear. The
6012 pants, 7012 jersey, 4010 gloves, and PG 3400 goggles complement each other
flawlessly.
Shoei’s V-Moto helmet is a brilliant combination of light weight, outstanding
fit, convincing styling, and Snell M2005 protection.
Alpinestars’ Tech 10 boots are the latest in the Tech series to attain legendary
status for uncompromising assaults on the dirt.
The lightweight GYTR aluminum oval muffler adds needed low-rpm power without
unwanted noise. An airbox mod aids breathing.
Made of titanium, the GYTR’s wider footpegs provide a stable platform for the
rider, while increasing durability and reducing weight.
A sturdy clutch is called for, and the GYTR clutch kit and cover delivers
welcome feel and reliability.
