MotorCycling Gift Guide: When the Tarmac Terminates
Yamaha, Honda & TKM
Don Williams
12/01/2006

Street motorcyclists already have the pavement covered, so a gift that expands their range, opens up new recreational opportunities.

When a passenger is in the picture, the Yamaha Rhino 660 Sport Edition 4x4 captures our attention at $10,949. Four-wheel independent suspension and nearly a foot of ground clearance means the Rhino is prepared for exploration of the most rugged terrain. (Click image to enlarge)

The SUV of the all-terrain vehicle world is the Honda Rincon GPScape 4x4. Fuel injection feeds the torquey 675cc pushrod motor, while an automotive-style three-speed transmission makes the capable Rincon easy to operate in either manual or automatic-shift modes. Pricing starts at $8,049.

For the ultimate in off-road travel, the $12,998 TKM 950 Super Enduro R sets a new standard for the class. Relatively narrow thanks to its V-twin configuration, and weighing in at a reasonable 408 lbs, ready for fuel, the SER is a true off-road motorcycle that offers the flexibility only street legality can supply.
