The Warrior Weighs In
2004 Star Warrior
Spring 2004

If every great motorcycle begins with a great engine, and every great power cruiser begins with a great big engine (as the trend seems to be), then the Star Warrior qualifies as both. The 102 cu in V-twin powerplant that propels the Warrior to 104 mph in just a quarter mile also produces 97 ft lbs of torque—numbers any motorcycle would be proud of. Unwanted shake has been engineered out, but just enough of the good vibrations remain to let you know that you are sitting on one powerful motor that is ready to rumble at the twist of your right wrist.

The Warrior, however, is about so much more than straight-line power and raw engine performance. Yamaha has used a specially designed, class-exclusive, lightweight aluminum frame that provides tremendous strength with minimal flex. An aluminum swingarm derived from Yamaha’s R1 sportbike offers superb rigidity, and the Kayaba inverted front fork enhances the sport-oriented handling.

Outstanding brakes are another important feature of the Warrior, which is priced from $12,000 and is available with a custom paint scheme for an additional $100. Yamaha again drew upon its sportbike racing heritage by fitting huge dual discs, four-piston calipers, and fully floating rotors to the front end, and a strong setup on the rear. Add lightweight, cast-aluminum wheels and ZR-rated radial tires for grip, and the Warrior inspires all the confidence necessary to push the envelope of its handling capabilities.
