With Street Glide inspiration, details on this otherwise Full Dresser were
changed to create an elegant bagger that belies its heft. Most obviously, the
rear Tour Pak and plush Touring seat have been replaced by only a slim Badlander
perch. The windshield is a minimized smoked affair, and whitewall tires are
mounted on Harley-Davidson wire spoke wheels. Screamin’ Eagle pipes are throaty,
without being obnoxious, and help the engine breathe more freely. Completing the
minimalist concept is a reduction of most of the chrome, including the rails
around the bags and fenders, replacing the turn signals with smaller bullet-type
indicators and more elegant (and better performing) braided brake lines. As a
slight departure, the front forks were enhanced with chrome—the driving lights
were kept for both looks and safety. Utilizing the detachable Tour Pak and seat,
this Electra Glide Classic is minutes from returning to its full-dress original
glory, effectively giving the owner two bikes in one. All added parts came from
the Harley-Davidson catalog.

EXHAUST AND SEAT
Screamin’ Eagle pipes look and sound good. The Badlander
seat is “screamin’ uncomfortable”
but looks awesome—so who cares?
 DASH
The stock dash is easily read at a glance. Music with optional XM
satellite radio is handlebar-controlled. (Click image to enlarge)
WHEELS
Minimized chrome, wire spoke wheels and whitewall tires complete the
retro cool look.
LEATHER
Harley-Davidson’s FXRG clothing range is top notch. Beautifully
supple hides are well cut, and feature removable linings and strong zippers
that will last. Sleeves are ample length and do not ride up when arms are
stretched.
HELMET
Harley-Davidson’s Road Classic Open Face loses the “mushroom” look
typical of shorty DOT helmets.
BOOTS
Surprisingly comfortable H-D FXRG-2 boots are safe and look good.
